Background on Ryan:
I have been racing and competing all my life. I was formerly a professional snowboarder, raced motocross, street bikes and for the past 16 years, mountain bikes. I have been involved in all aspects of racing, including organization and promotion with events such as the infamous Golden Psychosis (RIP) and more recently the Rubberhead Enduro in Rossland, BC.
I have coached some of Canada's top mountain bike athletes to multiple national titles, including the PerformX Downhill Team. I am now the head coach for the new Seven Summits Gravity Team based in the Kootenays of British Columbia.
Journalist (photography, writing and video) for 17 years. Contributor to bike, ski and web magazines
Communications and media
Volunteer and advocacy:
Mountain biking is a relatively new sport and as such it needs its champions. For over a decade I have been actively involved in grassroots mountain biking, including trail advocacy, management and development. I was a founding director with the Golden Cycling Club and the Kamloops Bike Riders Association, and am now the president of the Kootenay Columbia Trails Society in Rossland, BC. In 2012, I was honoured with a Community Sports Hero Award for mountain bike advocacy. You can usually find me with a pulaski in hand digging flowy berms and big jumps. Dig it.
